Freeing the school: Escuela Libre de Soria

"El aprendizaje es la actividad humana que requiere la mínima manipulación de otros, el mayor aprendizaje no es el resultado de la instrucción, es más bien el resultado de la libre participación en un ambiente lleno de significados".

                                                                                                                   Ivan Illich

This fall, a new free school was begun in the Soria region of spain.  With limited financial resources, but great desire and passion, the school started modestly enough, but with ambition.  It now seeks support through a crowdfunding initiative.  In solidarity, we support this and all efforts to free ourselves from State-Capital.  For those who can, this news and the call for assistance is to be shared as broadly as possible.

The war of okupations

The Madrid authorities have closed a further Autonomous Okupied Social Centre, 16.0.  The building, okupied on the 14th of November of 2011, in the neighbourhood of Malasaña, was an extension of the work of various social movements in the city and had ocer the course of the year endeavoured to create an autonomous for autonomies, that is, for the creation of alternative forms of exchange, economies, sharing … alternative ways of being. Creating Autonomies

15M Soria has collected a large number of efforts/projects of what it calls Citizens initiatives: What we carry of the future.  These are examples of “collective, self-managed practices that work towards the urban empowerment of the citizenry and which develop critical processes of the city of today”.  The political inspiration of these projects varies, but their number and importance is undeniable, contributing as they can to a micropolitics of autonomy.

The rebellion of bodies: Beatriz Preciado

We have all been injured, profoundly.  We require regeneration, not rebirth, and the possibilities for our reconstitution include the utopian dream of the hope for a monstrous world without gender.

Donna Haraway, A Manifesto for Cyborgs

What is important is not to be “queer”, but to maintain a critical attitude towards the excluding and normalizing effects of all sexual identity.

                               Beatriz Preciado, Periodico Diagonal (20/07/2010)

We encourage the rebellion of bodies.  We place our bodies and pleasures above the logic of the market.

Asamblea Transmaricabollo de Sol, Madrid, (04/06/2011), Manifiesto Transmaricabollo

A poetry of love and freedom: Antonio Gamoneda

Life is a mistake, tells us the Spanish poet Antonio Gamoneda, but it is worth it.  “Because … in this error we find things like friendship, esthetic pleasure, love … Life is ephemeral, it is in part absurd – going from non being to non being, from nonexistence to nonexistence – it is not a natural state, it is an accident …  but it is worth it”.
